The ECO-MSE approach

Retaining walls with a growing finish.

MSE stands for mechanically stabilised earth. The ECO-MSE® system uses geotextile bags as part of a retaining wall, with a facing that can be hydroseeded to support vegetation. We discuss the site and the proposed work with our specialist partner, Green Gravity Walls UK Ltd.

01 / Private customer

Securing a failed timber crib wall.

Working in partnership with Green Gravity Walls UK Ltd, we used ECO-MSE® bags to secure a private customer’s failing timber crib wall.

The bags were then hydroseeded, with the aim of achieving full vegetation across the wall face as growth establishes. The final photograph shows the wall after hydroseeding, before established vegetation.

02 / Telford and Wrekin Council

A 110m retaining wall for the council.

We worked in partnership with Green Gravity Walls UK Ltd to build a 110m-long ECO-MSE® retaining wall for Telford and Wrekin Council.

The photographs follow the work from installation of the bag courses to the hydroseeded wall face, showing the same system used on a larger project.

Yes. Our private customer project below shows a repair carried out with GGW to secure a failing timber crib wall. Send us photographs and site details so we can discuss whether an ECO-MSE approach is suitable for your wall.

What does the wall look like after hydroseeding?

The photographs show the green seeded coating after application. Vegetation grows through over time; the final coverage depends on establishment, site conditions and aftercare.
